Two year accident free run helps Wardle to fourth RoSPA Gold Award

D Wardle (Plant) Ltd, has won a fourth consecutive RoSPA Gold Award for Occupational Safety . The Gold award is only presented to those companies who have achieved a very high standard of health and safety at work measured over a four year period.
Mark Howlett, Contracts Manager at D Wardle (Plant), will collect the award at a special presentation ceremony in Birmingham on 13 May 2008.
Andrew Wardle, Finance Director at D Wardle (Plant), commented “2008 is the fourth year in a row we've won the Gold Award. In the past year we have achieved OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety Management certification, NVQ qualifed a substantial proportion of our workforce, and developed a new customer website enabling customers to access health and safety information on line. But most important of all we have had zero lost time injuries in 2007. Our accident free run now stretches to over two years."
RoSPA believes that the most effective way to promote safety and encourage best management practice is to recognise and reward those who head the field and “practice what they preach”. Winning the Gold Award is independent recognition that D Wardle (Plant) are a company to be looked on as an example of excellent attainment and ‘best practice’ within the field of Health and Safety. The RoSPA awards panel consider all aspects of the Health and Safety Management system, as well as hard accident statistics, in making the Awards. According to Mr Wardle, "although considerable resources are required to complete the award submission, it is an incredibly valuable exercise that generates countless ideas for improving our Health and Safety performance."
